There is a huge, growing movement for action on climate change. Want proof? TckTckTck and our partners now have over two thousand events around the world organized by passionate climate activists from over one hundred twenty countries for the Global Wake Up Call. People from the developed and developing world, from all walks of life, are gathering to sound the alarm in public places, with cell phones set to alarm, blasting your favorite song, or even banging pots and pans.

Crowds are going to gather and call, en masse, their leaders to wake up to the reality that global warming is here and time is running out to act. Musical artists, both big names like Alanis Morrisette, Peter Gabriel, Lila Downs, or Michael Stipe and street musicians from Taiwan to Trinidad and Tobago are making some noise and urging their fans to join in. Are you going to be there? Check out the video about how easy and fun it can be.

This September 21st is going to be a day that will go down in history as one where global civil society and citizens showed up and demanded to be heard, that it is time, right now, this fall, this year, to act on climate change. There is still time to join (or start) an event in your town, see our interactive map of gatherings.

The Global Wake Up Call will kick off with an aerial, human-powered animation of how the world is running out of time in New York's Central Park. This coordinated image will launch the events, where crowds will gather in over two thousand locations, from Ipanema beach in Rio de Janeiro to French Polynesia to bus stops in Nigeria.

Footage of the crowds gathering and making some noise will be streamed at another history making event. The Age of Stupid is going to beam, via satellite, footage to their one-night-only and possible Guinness World Record making Global Premiere, with movie screens booked worldwide to show their movie and a glimpse of the global climate movement itself.

The amazing thing is really that this has all been organized and come together in just the last few weeks. "The idea of a global climate wake-up call got going just a few weeks ago, and it's snowballing into a massive mobilisation of millions who want leaders to do more to stop runaway climate change," said Ricken Patel, Executive Director of TckTckTck partner, Avaaz which has provided an online hub for its 3.6 million members worldwide to find local events to attend or organise their own.

"Polls show 90% of people worldwide see climate change as a serious problem. Small islands are already sinking under rising seas. Once-fertile lands are battling floods or drought. And scientists say time is running out as we near a global tipping point." said Patel.

So, it is time for you to show up. Come join us in waking the world up! Register your own event, or join with your neighbors if there is one nearby. You can find out all about the events in the map below! We also have a toolkit with all kinds of things to get you started.
