Avaaz.org ("Avaaz" means "Voice" in many languages) is a 3.5-million person global campaign network with members in every country in the world. Avaaz has a simple democratic mission: to close the gap between the world we have, and the world most people everywhere want. No issue inspires greater concern among more people everywhere than the crisis of climate change -- and there is no greater opportunity to confront this crisis than the global treaty negotiations culminating this fall in Copenhagen.

Avaaz members have already begun to take action from Brazil to Japan to press for an ambitious, fair and binding global climate treaty. This fall, Avaaz members everywhere are organizing "Global Climate Wake-Up Call" events for September 21, just before the UN and G20 summits; members in countries like Germany are working to ensure climate commitments are made by electoral candidates; and across the globe, Avaaz is working to channel intense public concern into effective, politically strategic rapid-response pressure campaign to smash through obstacles to progress on the road to a strong Copenhagen treaty.
