Event Description

Climate Week NYC

The TckTckTck campaign joined the United Nations, the UN Foundation, the City of New York, The Climate Group and the Carbon Disclosure Project in organizing Climate Week NYC, a program of more than 50 city-wide events from September 18-25, 2009.

From large scale public gatherings to smaller policy focused initiatives, Climate Week NYC demonstrated massive support for a fair, ambitious, and binding international climate change treaty in Copenhagen in December 2009. Climate Week events ranged from the massive Global Wake Up Call, with over 2,600 events in 134 countries. TckTckTck partner Oxfam organized the Human Countdown, where hundred of volunteers created an animation of an hourglass to demonstrate how time is running out.

Other events included a kick-off, with Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Tony Blair, Hugh Jackman, our campaign chair Kumi Naidoo, and more. Our partners organized 40 other events, representing faith, labor, development, anti-poverty, and other organizations.
