Church bells across Britain ring in climate appeal

Bells in churches across Britain have chimed 350 times to press for a deal at the Copenhagen climate conference.

York Minster and Westminster Cathedral were among churches which joined a world event coinciding with a service in the Danish capital.

The aim was to highlight the 350 parts per million some developing nations say is the safe upper concentration for carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

Bells are being rung at 1500 local time in churches across the world.

Canadians raise climate awareness at country-wide rallies

Environmental activists across Canada sang carols, waved signs, and even stripped down to their underwear Saturday as part of a global day of action to raise awareness about climate change.

Canadians joined protesters from around the globe as UN climate talks continued in the Danish capital of Copenhagen.

Perhaps the most eye-opening Canadian demonstration was in Vancouver, where half a dozen Greenpeace members walked around the city dressed in nothing but their underwear and protest placards.

Andrea MacDonald - her skin covered in goose bumps - said she didn't mind the cold.

350 owns the media today

350.org is a new generation of organization, and today shows how well their model fits the noisy wired world we live in. You see, 350 aren't trying to build a massive new organization, or grow their own brand. Their one and only goal is to get a number - in this case, what we all believe is the most important number in the world - into the public consciousness.

And have they ever done that today. A roar just went around the office a few minutes ago, "we're the top story on Google news!".
